Causes of cough
From the perspective of modern medicine, the causes of cough include the following aspects:
Climatic factors. Changes in temperature, humidity, and air pressure can induce cough, so cold autumn and winter seasons are a period of high incidence of respiratory diseases.
Pleural disease. The occurrence of pleurisy and spontaneous pneumothorax can cause cough.
Cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular disease can also cause cough when it causes pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, and pulmonary stasis.
Respiratory diseases. Laryngitis, tracheobronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis and respiratory tract bleeding, tumors, foreign bodies, inhalation of irritating gases can all cause coughing.
Psychological factors. Psychological stimulation can control active cough and suppress cough reflexes.
Cough can be caused by allergies, strenuous exercise, and drug reactions.
